7 Interior Design Trends You Won't Want to Miss in 2020

2020; a new year, new decade, and new opportunity for refreshing your space. Whether you’re looking to give your real estate an update for your own enjoyment, or to prepare to list your house on the market, you’ll want to check out these front-runner interior design trends of 2020;

The clash between these contrasting light and dark colours creates an undeniably enjoyable impact of depth and crisp lines. There are many ways to incorporate this yin and yang trend into your home décor, my favourites being; black chairs and sofas, white throw pillows and blankets, chevron prints and black-and-white geometric patterns.

From concrete countertops and welded mesh railings to rustic wood accents; the industrial trend dominated 2019. For 2020 we’re predicting this trend will continue to inspire in condos, commercial spaces and tiny home communities.

A classic and mature look; neutrals are a recurring annual design trend favourite for both paint colours and accenting decor. Depending on your personal taste you may lean towards the warm tones that beige and brown neutrals offer, or you may favour the cool neutral tones of the grey family. From walls to décor, don’t underestimate the elegance of neutral design.

Make a statement this year with bold or vibrant geometric patterns. I prefer the more classic or contemporary patterns such as a black and white chevron or hexagonal sequence; you’ll want to consider the area in your home where you’d like to introduce this growing trend. Geometric bathroom floor tiles, a geometric accent wall or the addition of geometric throw pillows are great suggestions to introduce this trend into your home.

Bringing back the traditional; who doesn’t love a floral design on wallpaper? Unlike Nan’s retro vibe; 2020 will bring light, brush-stroked and airy floral print trends to hosting spaces near you.

Brighten up your kitchen, bathroom or laundry room with a fresh backsplash this year. You can incorporate a pop of colour, install a single-slab marble piece or bring back the reclaimed tin backsplash look to liven up your space.

You’ll see the request for bold yet airy wood-frame canopies on the rise this year. Immediately add a relaxing air to your master bedroom with a 4-poster canopy bed. 2020 brings many styles and textures to the master bedroom space, giving you the opportunity to create the ultimate oasis.

I hope you’re as excited as I am to see what the 2020 Okanagan Real Estate Market brings!
