Create An Inspiring Home Office Set-Up

When it comes to creating an office space in your home, you’ll want to focus on two avenues: functionality and aesthetic appeal. A home office is a great space for you to master productivity and a home office space remains a desired feature for potential buyers if you decide to list your property on the Okanagan market.

I myself have put together a home office, where I can efficiently and smoothly serve my real estate clients and I want to share with you my tips for creating a home office set-up that inspires you to get down to work!

When it comes to setting up your office, I recommend going for the minimalist approach. The less clutter on your desk, helps you to stay organized and can make your working time more enjoyable. When setting up your home office space, consider what you truly need to complete your work and invest in storage space to contain the items you’ll occasionally need such as pads of paper, thank you cards, cameras, electronics, charging cords and miscellaneous office items.

Not every home will have the space to designate an entire room to a great home office, but don’t get discouraged if you find yourself without a room to create an office in. Underneath staircases, corners of bedrooms, converted closets and areas of your basement can serve as great spaces to set up the perfect workspace for you. Ensure you’ve got the supplies you need to get the job done! From paper and pens to journals and printer ink, make sure you’ve got everything at your fingertips! Gather your office items, take an inventory of the pieces you have and create a list of any imperative items you’re missing to get your work done. I sure feel like a kid in a candy store when I head out to Staples Kelowna to stock up my own office!

Many of us spend the majority of the work week at a desk and over time this can take a toll on our bodies. Invest in a desk that’s the right height and set-up for you as well as a chair or exercise ball that’s comfortable and adjusted properly to the height of the desk. During your working days, don’t forget to take breaks, stretch out and stand up to give your body a much deserved pause.
