Emerging Home Design Trends in 2022

Emerging Home Design Trends in 2022

Over the last 2 years, many of our homes have received more love, attention and maintenance than in the prior five years combined. With the additional time spent indoors, we all naturally turned our attention to our interior surroundings, determining what works for our lifestyle and what reflects our personalities best in our homes.

So, what's next for our homes? Many trends will come and go, while others steal our hearts and become classics we love. We know for sure that work-from-home spaces, plant obsessions and dreamy bedroom set-ups are here to stay. Here are a few other trends that have recently caught my eye in the Okanagan real estate market.

Dark Kitchens

Kitchen trends have definitely evolved over the years. In contrast to the typical fresh white kitchens that have been popular the last few years, we’re seeing more modern kitchens that offer a darker and moodier vibe. Some of these trending kitchen styles offer dark tones contrasted by texture, such as sleek dark cabinets paired with a textured stone countertop.

Dreamy Grey Hues

I have been seeing a lot of Okanagan homeowners opt for using rich grey tones in their homes, complimented by a warm inviting earth tone such as Breezeway, Behr’s Colour of the Year. Grey palettes are the perfect tone if you’re planning to list your home in the near future, as this colour family appeals to a wide demographic of potential buyers.

Sustainability Is The New Sexy

Consciously designed and responsibly manufactured products are becoming more sought after when it comes to building or renovating a home. Consumers are more conscious of their selections when picking out materials, appliances and furniture. Expect to see widespread adoption of green thinking in the Okanagan market and beyond. Some hot purchases for these savvy homes are smart thermostats, recycled water systems and modern efficient appliances.

Whether you’re looking for a new build that encompasses some of the hottest 2022 design trends, or you want to find the perfect home to give some TLC to, I’d love to support you in your real estate journey. Connect with me if you’d like to see what’s available here in the Okanagan.
