Make the Most of Time Inside with These Cleaning Tips

As we find ourselves indoors over the next few weeks, why not take the time to get our homes in tip-top shape for the Okanagan spring. We can tackle the seasonal closet flip, minimize clutter in kitchens and pantries and maximize the cleanliness of our home in no time. I’ve compiled a list of my favourite spring house cleaning tips here for you (or Honey Do) to enjoy:

Each room in the housecan benefit from a deep cleaning to eliminate allergy-causing dust. Deep clean every room in the house with these focus areas:

  •  Dust and polish light fixtures, replace burnt out light bulbs 
  •  Wash baseboards, trim, window sills, doors, and walls
  •  Wash curtains and drapery

  •  Wash windows, inside and out
  •  Vacuum carpets/wash floors and wash floor vents 

Bring your Kitchen to a sparkle and shine by washing and sanitizing:

  •  Kitchen cabinets and drawers
  •  Pantry shelves, disposing of expired products along the way
  •  Stovetop and inside the oven
  •  Fridge shelves, deep cleaning the inside and outside
  •  Pulling out all kitchen appliances to vacuum and wash behind them

Pull on your rubber gloves and polish Bathrooms by:

  •  Go through your closet and purge items no longer being worn or used
  •  Review the contents stored under your bed and in nightstands

  •  Disinfect all computer keyboards, accessories, television remotes, keys and home phones
  •  Change batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
  •  Ensure your fire extinguisher is available and in date

  •  Store all winter items, clothes, and holiday decorations.
  •  Update all your house first aid kits. Toss expired medication while sorting other medication.
